Would an "All Techs" civ be any good?
What if I told you that I'd give you every tech but take away every civilization bonus and unique tech? Would you take that trade?

Am I the only one upset that he said the central asian windmill didn't have the windblock on one side when it very obviously does? It's not big enough, but it's definitely there.
The system starts players at 1000 ELO because it assumes they're average. Even though new players are predictably below average. And 1000 ELO isn't the average anymore. The video has reasonable points, but may I suggest treating the whole new player population like a virtual player? If new players systematically lose their first few games, starting ELOs should be adjusted down for the entire population. If new players systematically win their first few matches, starting ELOs should be adjusted up.
Wait wtf... You lose castle bonus and civ bonus? I didn't know that
Can u give me a tip to fix the crash it does at 35 minutes of game play I don't know how to fix this
Best one age of empires 2 hd edition
Now do "All bonuses but only the units every civilization has"
Somehow, this matches my strategy in Dragon Age: Origins, where I had my party always target the weakest (=lowest HP) targets first. Only mages would get higher priority. I guess it's about reducing the enemy's DPS.
Bonipodes 😂. I'd subscribe a 2nd time just for that joke if I could.
The "Humanity" civ

Update: They lost the Paladin as of today, where do we find a summary of all the updates done to the civ?
I know I'm 6 years late but me and my friends mostly play mangrove. It's in fact a great map.
This game makes me feel dumb to play or lose to cpu on hardest/intense
That Teutonic knight... He wouldn't happen to hail from the Eastern region of his home realm?
1:34 It could be argued that the reason why the plumed archer has higher armor than the crossbowman, despite the latter wearing a breastplate, is thanks to the Ichcahuipilli, a gambeson-like jacket made of interwoven layers of dense cotton over an inch thick. The fabric armor was capable of absorbing the impact energy of even bullets and some Conquistadors would even discard their own plate armor in favor of the Ichcahuipilli, as it was easier to maintain and wear in the hot, humid environment. That said, the armor is more associated with the Aztec.
I think all techs civ would be boring. I remember playing a mod way back in the ancient 2000s some time where this was done and it basically sucked , at least in the free for all format I remember.
Virgin running Eagle Warrior vs. the Chad walking Woad Raider
Even the question having to be asked is a testament to how balanced the game is
As long as y'all keep picking frank and spam knights every single match at my low elo, there's no need for all tech anyway :P
Petition for Devs to add an Alttechs Civilization to the game with no Unique Unit
The castle age Indian mill should theoretically work nonetheless because the force acting on the inside of the semicylindrical sail is greater than the force acting on the outside of the semicylindrical sail, therefore you have a greater force on one side of the mill than on the other. This is very nearly how modern vertical wind turbines also look (some are additionally helical to make the stresses more constant and less cyclical), just without the whole arch and two-sided bearing thing, they're usually free-standing.
Maybe centurions being on horses supposed to reference how generals tended to lead legions on horseback?
The developer team should consider implementing a civ like that for some kind of temporary special event, for example have it available for two weeks... it would be interesting to see what would happen. Personally, I believe it will do a bit better than the video implies, for two reasons: - Since an All-Tech-Civ has a large amount of reasonable unit combos to choose from, the other side has to invest more into scouting to determine what is actually happening. Also, the All-Tech-Civ will be able to make an ok counter to basically everything the other side has. So, it is both quite adaptive and quite unpredictable - It also might be more straightforward to play, since you "simply" have everything available, so it might do better than usual on a lower skill rating The lack of dark age bonuses will still prevent it from doing really well, but ultimately, I would not expect it to have a below average win rate.
We need an update with the elephant siege unit and the special unit from I don't remember the civi lol
Honestly, I really wish that they would just give us Full Tech Tree with civ bonuses. I know it would be less balanced, but come on, who plays Full Tech Tree for the balance?
Full tech tree, huh.
The Indian windmill before castellation, just like the American windmills, would not work as shown. *However*, the Indian windmill *after* castellation would indeed work. The curvature of the sails introduces that imbalance you mentioned. There are common wind decorations that use this principle. I don't know if it would be strong enough to do much work, but it definitely would spin reliably in wind, and has the advantage of being equally pushed by wind from any direction, without needing to be moved.
All tech civs should include unique tech since thise are techs too.
I feel like the unique unit would probably fit best as something that can take advantage of the wide open tech tree. You mentioned Arambai being potentially good because they would get access to extra upgrades (due to being a hybrid cav/archer unit), so maybe something like that. Or even something that gets like a small extra HP bonus or something for every blacksmith upgrade researched, even ones that don't otherwise affect them. Something that turns the breadth advantage into a depth one, basically.
I used to play full tech tree with friends thru lan before forgotten was even a mod
"Everything is Melee Damage, if you hurl your melee weapon at enemies." - A Frank maybe.
how do they perform against samurai ?
Do civs lose unique buildings when using a full tech tree?
All tech with no bonuses would be very interesting to watch at a pro level, at least
0:20 correction. If you pick it in the scenario editor you don't lose the civ bonuses. (At least it was like this unless they changed it)
This video made me remember that I used to play with "All Techs" on all the time as a kid because I thought it was a kind of cheat lol
What about another highpotentical video about best Civs if Civ Bonuses and Tech are combined to all Tech. Cheap heavy armored Goths, longbows with Thumb ring or more powerful CA Civs lacking some upgrades due to civ bonuses.
Now the next question is what to call this 'all tech' civ?
now THIS is content
Guess i missed something, why an all twch civ wiuld lose their nation bonuses? What if u give thumb ring to mongol but dont remove anything from it? That would be prob the best arch civ in the game
Possibly the most useless UU in the game. They should make the Tarkan the Hunnic upgrade to the knight and buff it to paladin like stats and a +5 attack bonus vs buildings.
How do they counter archers? They don't have Elite Skirmishers, nor Onagers. D:
I’ll say civ bonuses are more Valuable than lots of techs. More techs means more resources spent on them, meanwhile a civ’s bonus can get drastically better from simply aging up.
I think the analysis should have focused more on the unique unit. Some UU are purposely missing certain upgrades, so having all techs makes them dominant: Chakrams with blast furnace, Arambai with all defenses, composite bowmen with thumb ring. Also, I think elephant archers with all upgrades and heresy become quite good too.
With All Techs only UUs can make a difference, so let's have a look at UUs that would profit: - Huskarl (+last armour) - wouldn't make a big difference as 8+2 already keeps all PA reduced to 1 except some very few exceptions like Mangudai and +3 instead of +2 armour won't help much - Composite Bowman gets Thumbring - doesn't make a huge difference but still something - Coustillier gets Bloodlines, that's actually a pretty good one - Arambai get a lot of additional armour (will end up at 3/6) - Gurjara with Chakram Thrower will have +2 attack, this is again a big game changer (8 vs 6 melee is in many cases double or triple the damage!) - Ghulam gets +2 armour and would become somewhat like a huskarl - Persian Elephants get heresy ;) However the overall winner in my opinion: Cumans Kipchaks with All Tech could be really strong in the late game as even missing Bracer they aren't a bad choice currently and do not benefit really from any upgrade. Also, the cav speed bonus will be replaced again with husbandry, so they end up being "just" 5% slower than currently. At #2 I would put Gurjara and #3 Arambai, I would rate range units in general better than melee.
This is turbo nitpicking but I'd like to point out that Conquistadors are in fact not affected by the Spanish attack speed bonus, they just naturally have the same attack reload time that Spanish HCs have.
War elephants with faith and heresy
I think it's weak. It means that the civ has nothing strong, you could make ideal unit combo but your eco is slower than average eco civ, while you can't mirror the unit they are basically weak. (No bonus, must rely blacksmiths) And you have no castle unit. You need to use full upgrade say archer or siege to finish the opponent. (Write before finish the video)
well , i misunderstood sth, i was thinking a 'all tech' civs against normal civs and i'm wrong about the castle unit part. Tho, having something new to play is fun at least, it feels like 'all techs' 1v1 would be very skillful, like mirror matchup but not 100%
